Ballina Salmon Festival teams up with Ballina Community radio Show to create ‘Festival Radio Show-Reeling in the years

To mark the 60th anniversary of the Ballina Salmon Festival, we’ve joined forces with Ballina Community Radio BCRFM to present ‘Festival Radio Show-Reeling back the Years’.

Tune in each week for a lively programme highlighting the festival’s highs, lows, and everything in between. We’ll celebrate the individuals behind the scenes, reminisce about the past six decades, and delve into what makes this festival truly special.

Saturday, April 27th at 6pm on 101.9fm: Join us for the debut episode of Festival Radio, where we’ll be hosting a very special guest, Benny Walkin and Marian Browne.

Saturday, May 4th at 6pm on 101.9fm: Join us for week 2 and second episode of Festival Radio, where we’ll be hosting a very special guest: Mary Moyles, Coordnator of the Lady of the Moy

Saturday, May 11th, Join us for the third week of chats and conversations, this week with the infamous Tommy Marren, broadcaster on a very well know radio station, and very successful playright in his own right. Tommy talks about his career and this years new addition to the festival programme ‘The Best of Ballina’.

Saturday May 18th, at 6pm  Join us for the fourth week of chats and conversations, this week we’re honored to introduce Mary Dunne, the Event Coordinator of Ireland’s oldest river race River Moy Swim. The Moy Swim, Ireland’s oldest river race, has a rich history dating back several decades. Mary Dunne provides a fascinating overview of its origins and evolution.

Saturday June 1st, at 6pm  Join us for the fifth week of chats and conversations, this week we’re honored to we’re delighted to welcome Cian Gilmartin, Festival Busking Coordinator and last years festival busking winner, 2023 Nessa Ruane Dalton. Cian discusses the much loved busking competition, since its inception in 2016 and how busking enriches the festival atmosphere,
