Happy Birthday to the Core Mayo Open Mic!
Since 2016, the increasingly popular Music Generation Mayo programme The Core Mayo has been giving young musicians and learners in the Mayo community a multitude of performance opportunities at their showcases, festival stages, pop up events and open mic evenings. As you’ll no doubt be aware, we at Ballina Salmon Festival were lucky enough this year to have The Core Stage, which featured a full lunchtime concert schedule of young performances from the The Core Mayo.
The Core Mayo Open Mic turns one this week – congrats to all involved!

The Core Open Mic is a monthly event where the mezzanine area of the Ballina Arts Centre is transformed into a vibrant and intimate performance space. The stage is open to young musicians and performers aged 12 to 18 and can accommodate full bands!

It’s a fantastic opportunity to meet like minded musical people from across the county and get experience performing in front of an attentive and appreciative audience. It’s also an opportunity to meet members of The Core, get a tour of the rehearsal/recording space, learn about instrumental tuition, workshops and camps at The Core or even become a member yourself! As always, friends and family are more than welcome to come along and our performers always appreciate the support!
Young people interested in performing on Tuesday November 28th are encouraged to contact PhilipCassidy@msletb.ie or call 087-7485954. For more info about The Core please visit www.TheCoreMayo.com
