Ballina Salmon Festival takes place in Ballina, Mayo from Sun 8th to Sun 15th July and there will be some diversions in place throughout festival week. Drivers are also warned to expect delays due to large crowds attending particular events.

Members of the public are asked to co-operate with An Garda Síochána at all times. 

Wed 11th July is Heritage Day with 40-50,000 visitors expected in the town. Road closures will be in place from 6am to 9pm. A Garda traffic management plan will be in place and motorists should use the designated car parks which will be signposted. All motorists coming into town on the N26 and heading for Sligo on the N59 or Bonniconlon on the Tubbercurry Rd (R294) should use James Connolly St (known locally as Hill St) which will remain open.

On Thurs 12th July, local diversions will be in place in the evening due to a concert.

On Fri 13th July, a Garda traffic management plan will be in place from 3pm to 7pm. All motorists coming into town on the N26 and heading for Sligo on the N59 or Bonniconlon on the Tubbercurry Rd (R294) should use James Connolly St (known locally as Hill St) which will remain open.

On Saturday 14th July, there will be a Mardi Gras and fireworks display. Traffic restrictions will be in place from 6pm to 2am, with a Garda traffic management plan in place from 11:30pm-12:30am. Motorists are advised to use the Lower Bridge on the N59 to come into the town.

On Sun 15th July, the Teddy Bear’s Picnic will take place at Tom Ruane Park from 2-6pm. Expect delays on the N59.
